Experts Gather in Lisbon to Discuss Advances in Parkinson’s Disease
The BIAL PD Summit 2025, held on 14-15 February in Lisbon, Portugal, brought together over 300 healthcare professionals from around the globe to discuss the latest advancements in Parkinson’s disease research and care.
Organised by BIAL, this fourth edition of the Summit provided an invaluable platform for clinical experts, researchers, and industry leaders to share insights and explore innovative strategies aimed at transforming Parkinson’s disease management.
Dr. Monica Kurtis co-chaired the summit, guiding discussions and emphasising the role of innovative research in improving patient care.
One of the presentations focused on the AI-PROGNOSIS project. In this session, Harris Sotirakis from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) explained how machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) can support clinicians in early detection, monitoring, and personalised treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
