An exploratory international survey compares the perspectives of people with Parkinson disease, people at risk, caregivers, and health care professionals on digital tools and AI-based support
A new AI-PROGNOSIS publication has been published in JMIR Formative Research.
The article, titled “Comparing Stakeholders’ Perspectives on Parkinson Disease Management and Digital Technologies: Exploratory International Survey”, presents findings from an anonymous cross-sectional online survey conducted in five languages between December 2024 and October 2025.
The survey included 255 respondents from four stakeholder groups: people with Parkinson disease, people at risk of Parkinson disease, caregivers, and health care professionals.
The study explores current digital practices for Parkinson disease management, stakeholder expectations for AI-based tools, and similarities and differences across stakeholder groups.
The findings show high interest in AI-based tools for Parkinson disease management across all stakeholder groups, with symptom tracking identified as the most commonly desired feature. At the same time, the study reports that current use of digital tools remains limited, indicating a gap between interest and adoption. The authors highlight the importance of user-centered design to support the relevance, usability, and uptake of future AI-based technologies in Parkinson disease care.
