On Capturing Effects of Medication Change in Parkinson’s Disease Using Wrist Accelerometry-Based Digital Biomarkers

5 Feb 2026

New AI-PROGNOSIS publication presents an analysis of wrist accelerometry–based digital biomarkers for capturing motor changes associated with medication adjustments in Parkinson’s disease

A new publication from the AI-PROGNOSIS project has been published in the proceedings of the 2025 IEEE International Conference on E-health Networking, Application & Services (HealthCom).

The study investigates whether wrist accelerometry–based digital biomarkers of upper limb mobility can capture motor changes associated with medication adjustments in people with Parkinson’s disease. Using data passively collected from a single wrist-worn accelerometer, the analysis examines digital biomarkers before and after changes in Levodopa Equivalent Daily Dose (LEDD), highlighting their potential to support continuous and objective monitoring of motor symptoms.
