Predictive Modelling for Parkinson’s Disease

27 Aug 2026

An overview of AI-PROGNOSIS work on predictive models for Parkinson’s disease risk, progression and medication response

AI-PROGNOSIS has published its final report on predictive modelling for Parkinson’s disease.

The report provides an overview of the methodologies, findings and future directions of the AI-PROGNOSIS predictive models.

The work focuses on three main areas of prognostic modelling:

  • Estimating the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease

  • Estimating disease progression

  • Estimating response to medication

The report also includes genetic analysis using Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS) to quantify genetic susceptibility in relation to both disease risk and progression and to inform the predictive models.

The final modelling work focuses on:

  • Improving model performance

  • Evaluating results against independent datasets

  • Ensuring the trustworthiness and explainability of the modelling outcomes

This work forms part of the AI-PROGNOSIS activities on predictive modelling for Parkinson’s disease.
