From early signs to clinical confirmation
Getting a Parkinson's diagnosis rarely happens overnight. Symptoms can appear more than 20 years before the diagnosis is made – and many of them, like loss of smell, sleep disturbances, or depression, are easy to miss or attribute to something else.
The journey moves through distinct stages – from early non-motor symptoms in the prodromal phase, through the motor symptoms that trigger the diagnostic process, to the moment a neurologist confirms the diagnosis.
Diagnosis is a clinical judgment, not a single test. A neurologist confirms PD by observing symptoms and ruling out other conditions.
