Initial findings from user research and co-creation shape the design of our digital health tools
The Initial Report on User Research and Co-Creation (D2.1) outlines the early work carried out to identify and integrate user needs into the AI-PROGNOSIS digital health ecosystem.
The report summarises our approach and findings from interviews, focus groups, and workshops involving people with Parkinson’s (PwP), people without Parkinson’s (PwoP), informal caregivers, and healthcare professionals (HCPs). These activities provide the foundation for co-developing tools that are meaningful, accessible, and relevant to end users.
Highlights include:
Risk predictions should be communicated by a healthcare professional, not directly through an app;
Gamification elements (like streak tracking) are appreciated and may support user motivation;
Participants value visual data presentation, confirmation of submitted data, and strong privacy safeguards;
There is broad openness to AI in care settings — when transparency, choice, and human oversight are ensured.
The report also introduces a structured co-creation process based on six guiding principles adapted from the SAMKA framework, which emphasises clarity, inclusiveness, long-term collaboration, and mutual learning.
An updated version will follow as part of our ongoing co-creation with key stakeholders.
